Meet the Principal
Principal Danielle Blackwell
This is my twentieth year in education. My first year I taught physical education in Eugene at Kelly Middle School. Then for the next 13 years I taught health, physical education and peer mediation at West Albany High School. I was lucky enough to be a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) for Greater Albany Public Schools (GAPS) as the Advanced Diploma Coordinator. Through this program, I worked out of the campus high school program’s office at Linn Benton Community College (LBCC), where I helped students transition from high school to college. It was extremely rewarding and showed me how important it is we get students career, and college ready.
The past three years I have been an administrator working at the district office in GAPS as the secondary Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment coordinator. I loved my job, but I really missed working with the students. When Scio High School Principal position opened I jumped at the chance to apply. Scio is rich in Career and Technical Education (CTE) tradition, with students having the opportunity to gain career readiness skills right on campus along with strong core academics. With the community backing, a strong staff, and amazing students I am proud to say I am a logger.
